Change Image DPI
Set a new DPI for an image and download a copy with updated resolution metadata. Pixel dimensions are preserved; this does not add detail or resample the image.
Privacy: images are decoded and processed only in your browser. They are not uploaded to any server, and temporary object URLs are revoked when you clear the tool.
How to use this calculator
1. Upload an image. 2. Set a target DPI. 3. Check the expected print size, then prepare and download the updated file. Pixel dimensions do not change.
Formula
New print width = Pixel width / New DPI. Only the metadata changes; pixel dimensions stay the same.
Frequently asked questions
Will changing DPI make my image sharper?
No. It changes the print size implied by the metadata. Sharpness comes from the original pixels.
Is transparency preserved?
PNG output preserves transparency. JPEG has no transparency, so a JPEG download cannot preserve an alpha channel.
